- In 1986 the Club was formed to serve the needs of local sailors in the South Sarasota area who wanted the fun of racing their small keelboats in a competitive but friendly atmosphere. The Founding Members were Charlie Kilbourne, Dick Hidy, Mel Hurwitz, Chuck Crawford and Jack Kirk.
- In 1987 Charlie Kilbourne was elected as the Clubs first Commodore.
- In 1990 the Club adopted the triangle course which is still used today.
- In 2008 the Club launched its first website.
- In 2015 the Club replaced the original rounding marks with the large orange buoys you see today.
- In 2019 the Club adopted (as a trial) a reverse scoring system for awarding points for the series championship.
- In 2019 (Dec) Peter Buros was elected Commodore, replacing Charlie Kilbourne who now serves as Honorary Commodore. The Club owes much of its success to Charlies's enthusiastic leadership and to the sight of him in his lovely Compac 16 "Nina".
